Bouldering Cave Policies & Procedures
- Equipment is not permitted to move outside of Bouldering Cave.
- Workshop and program attendees will take priority in the space.
- Climbing shoes are required while bouldering.
- Bouldering crash mats must be used while bouldering.
- Spotters are strongly recommended at all times while bouldering.
- Maximum of 1 climber on a wall face at a time in the bouldering cave.
- Bouldering is permitted on the kilter wall no higher than the top of the frame.
- The space capacity is 20 patrons.
- All personal belongings and bags should be kept off the floors. Please store items in lockers or cubbies.
- Athletic footwear must be worn at all times in this space.
HIIT Pod Policies & Procedures
- Equipment is not permitted to move outside of the HIIT Pod.
- Workshop and program attendees will take priority in the space.
- All personal belongings and bags should be kept off the floors. Please store items in lockers or cubbies.
- The space capacity is 20 patrons.
- Please return all equipment after use.
- No chalk is permitted in the HIIT Pod.
- Slamming of Slam Balls is permitted in the HIIT Pod.
- Athletic footwear must be worn at all times in this space.
Olympic Pod Policies & Procedures
The Olympic Pod is a monitored, controlled space where Illinois students and Campus Rec members may perform Olympic-style lifts. These types of lifts are not permitted in any other location in our buildings.
- Only the following lifts are appropriate for this space:
- Clean (Power clean, hang clean, full, or ‘squat’ clean)
- Snatch (Power snatch, hang snatch, full or ‘squat’ snatch)
- Clean and Jerk
- Pulls (clean or snatch grip)
- Push press, push (or power) jerk, split jerk
- Olympic lifting is restricted to the platforms only.
- The space capacity is 9 patrons.
- Workshop and program attendees will take priority in the space.
- Equipment is not permitted to move outside of the Olympic Pod.
- Bumper plates and boxes can ONLY be used for Olympic lifting.
- Chalk is strictly prohibited for use in the Olympic Pod.
- Only ONE patron is permitted on the platform area at one time. A maximum of TWO patrons may use the platforms at any given time. Group use is strictly prohibited.
- Only ONE barbell is permitted on the platform at any given time. All other barbells MUST be racked.
- Olympic lifting bars — black shaft with chrome sleeves — may ONLY be used on the Olympic lifting platforms, for Olympic lifting and deadlifts.
- The use of vertically stacked weight plates to create a heightened pulling base is prohibited.
- Users shall rerack all weight plates, barbells, blocks, and collars to their respective places.
- Spotting for Olympic lifting is strictly prohibited.
- Failure to follow these guidelines will result in suspension from platform privileges and possible suspension from the facility.

- Equipment is not permitted to move outside of the Power Pod.
- Workshop and program attendees will take priority in the space.
