Greek Cup Official

Position Purpose

Position responsibilities include officiating team and individual Greek Cup Sports while overseeing and managing a safe and pleasant atmosphere for Greek participants while assisting Greek Cup Supervisors as needed.

Typical Job Duties

  1. Development Opportunities:
  • Work towards creating a cohesive work environment among all Campus Recreation Units.
  • Assist in addressing any concerns that patrons may have while participating in Greek Cup.
  • Oversee all fields/courts
  • Provide participants with positive public relations, program promotion, and policy education.
  • Know emergency action plan procedures (fire alarms, tornado drills, injuries, etc.)
  • Attend all required staff and sport specific meetings/trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

2.    Practice proper safety procedures:

  • Appropriately respond to any injuries and complete proper documentation.
  • Stay up to date with required certifications.

Qualifications

  • Be coachable and willing to learn
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Have a general knowledge of sports rules
  • Possess strong oral communication skills
  • Be comfortable with conflict management
Job Knowledge/Skills Required

  1. Thorough knowledge of Campus Recreation’s policies, procedures, and sport specific rules
  2. Ability to communicate effectively with facility patrons.
  3. Exercise conflict resolution

Reporting Line

The Greek Cup Official reports directly to the Graduate Assistant and Assistant Director of Competitive Sports.  The Assistant Director reports to the supervising Associate Director.

 

Supervisory Duties

None

Time Commitment

Programming takes place on Sundays from 12:00p-6:00p (registration dependent).  A fifteen (15) minute break is not a state, nor a federal mandated rule.  However, it is University protocol that we honor the 15-minute break for each 4-hour shift worked (including back-to-back shifts).  For further information on the 15-minute break, please review the Student Employee Guidelines. 

Evaluations

Performed by the Graduate Assistant, Assistant Director of Competitive Sports, and when necessary, the Assistant Director of HR Student Development.  Nightly evaluations based around coachable moments are performed by Greek Cup Supervisors.

Greek Cup Program Assistant

Position Purpose

Position responsibilities include assisting the Assistant Director of Competitive Sports in various office responsibilities for the operation of the Greek Cup program.  The Greek Cup Program Assistant will primarily assist with the organization and coordination of game schedules, official’s schedules, and the Greek Cup email.

Typical Job Duties

  1. Development Opportunities:
  • Work towards creating a cohesive work environment among all Campus Recreation Units.
  • Maintain Greek Cup point system
  • Address any concerns patrons may have.
  • Schedule Greek Cup games and officials
  • Create reports pertaining to different aspects of the Greek Cup program.
  • Manage Greek Cup email and respond appropriately
  • Assist in planning and executing special events – i.e. championships and Greek Cup weekend
  • Attendance Greek Cup staff meetings is mandatory.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Be familiar with the emergency action plan.

Qualifications

  • Ability to be highly organized and have good planning skills. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and those with special needs or limitations. 
  • Familiarity with all Campus Recreation policies and procedures.

The Greek Cup Program Assistant will work a variety of different hours depending on the time of the year and the number of games scheduled but can expect between 6-10 hours per week.
