The marketing team works to promote all of Campus Recreation’s programming, events, facilities, employees, and mission. Campus Recreation is a place for everyone, and this theme is carried out through all messages and marketing efforts.

Marketing Assistants

Marketing Assistants can enjoy a wide variety of projects depending on the skill set they have accumulated. Students may design a flyer, produce a video, add a web photo gallery, write a video script, create web content, develop social media posts, and launch special events or any combination of those projects. With all of the new digital media channels and opportunities available, Campus Recreation is at the forefront of marketing to our students.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain visual style and identity standards
  • Manage digital media archives for photo, video, and graphics
  • Work together as a team to create different types of marketing
  • Work with professional and student staff to create content
  • Assist with the fulfillment of promotional partner agreements
  • Brainstorm and research avenues to show Campus Recreation’s diversity and inclusion
  • Distribute marketing materials to Campus Recreation facilities and local community
  • Promote and assist at Campus Recreation special events, outreach opportunities or departmental collaborations
  • Participate in marketing staff meetings including brainstorming, deadlines, and project management
  • Proficiency or excellence in one or more of the following skill sets.

Skill Sets


  • Take photographs at events and staged set-ups
  • Experience with DSLR camera and equipment
  • Experience with Adobe editing software – Lightroom and Photoshop
  • Format and add images to web calendar and web pages


  • Capable of taking video at events and staged set-ups
  • Experience with DSLR camera, lighting, and audio equipment
  • Experience with Adobe editing software or equivalent
  • Creation and production of final video and clips for various projects


  • Experience with WordPress or similar
  • Edit content on the web site and staff intranet
  • Add events, details, and images to web calendar and web pages
  • Format content on web site pages with a clear hierarchy within design standards

Graphic Design

  • Create promotional advertisements – posters, flyers, digital signs, social media and web graphics, t-shirts, etc.
  • Experience with Adobe design software- Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop

Social Media & Outreach

  • Create social media posts and schedule for multiple events and multiple departments
  • Take photographs and video footage
  • Live-stream events on various social media platforms
  • Experience with Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat
  • Promote and market various events
  • Represent Campus Recreation at multiple events


  • Develop and write feature stories and articles for Campus Recreation’s website, annual report, and other marketing materials
  • Create content for Campus Recreation eNewsletter and social media
  • Edit scripts for videos and other projects
