Entry Level Positions

Facility Assistant

  • Includes skate checkers, skate monitors, café workers, cashiers and hockey staff
  • Enforce policies during public skate sessions, hockey games, private rentals, and other Ice Arena programs and events
  • Ensure safety of patrons on and off ice
  • No experience necessary, only a customer service-oriented and friendly attitude

Instructor

  • Teach ice skating and hockey skills to Kinesiology and Learn-to-Skate participants
  • Previous teaching experience is not required, but it is preferred that applicants have passed Freestyle 4 of ISI or Preliminary Moves in the Field for USFS (for figure skating instructors), or have coached at any hockey level or played hockey competitively into the high school/midget level (for hockey instructors)

Hockey Official

  • Enforce the rules and regulations of hockey games in order to ensure safety for all patrons
  • Above average skating ability is required and prior officiating experience and certification are preferred

Promotional Opportunities

Customer Service Assistant

  • Provide leadership, management, and supervision to student staff
  • Handle payments for café and pro shop inventory, registration and admission fees, and ticket sales
  • Process program registration forms and space reservation requests

Zamboni Driver

  • Monitor and resurface the ice in order to maintain safe conditions for patrons
  • Perform basic maintenance on the Zamboni and reports any mechanical problems to Ice Arena management
  • Sharpen inventory of rental and customers’ skates

Learn-to-Skate Coordinator

  • Coordinate the Learn-to-Skate program according to United States Figure Skating Basic Skills guidelines
  • Maintain registration and evaluation records of participants in Learn-to-Skate
  • Assist in the hiring, scheduling, and evaluation of instructors

Event Manager

  • Assist professional staff with management of programming, policies and 100+ student staff members
  • Supervise public skating sessions and other private rentals
  • Take the lead on an area of programming such as birthday parties and recreational hockey leagues or maintain records for online calendar or participation data
